Gardening Day at Sandwich Library
Saturday 14th April 2012

Families who went along to Sandwich Library on Saturday 14th April 2012 were in for a treat. Outside in the Library garden, the sun shone and members of Sandwich Library Guild helped youngsters discover the joys of gardening.
Little ones also had the opportunity to make models of garden bugs to take home. Adults could swap plants and pick up tips from expert advice supplied by Archers Low Nursery and Garden Centre in Ash Road. Peter Dean, from Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory Trust, was on hand to tell people how to attract birds and wildlife into the garden. Library staff provided a range of gardening books for the public to borrow.

The event tied in with the Royal Horticultural Society's National Gardening Week and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Sonia Jackson, the Guild's co-Chair, said that the library garden was a little-known haven in the middle of the town and was an ideal spot to sit and have a coffee or eat your sandwiches while enjoying an interesting read.
