www.open-sandwich.co.uk has published the Sandwich Festival events for the past 10 years - here they are for August 2010. The Sandwich Festival Association is a team of volunteers that work very hard each year to bring the following events to the town.
Note: Some events may require tickets to be purchased in advance. These will be available from Sandwich Tourist Information Centre at The Guildhall (Tel. 01304 613565) unless otherwise stated.
Sunday 22nd August
Run on the Quay
10am 10K and 6K Run starting on The Quay
Entrance fees 6K £5 , 10K £10

Monday 23rd August
Music in the Garden
7pm to 9pm - Ramparts Lodge, Knightrider Street
An informal musical event with the Becker Palm Court Trio
Entrance Fee £7
This event will be held in St Mary’s Church if heavy rain renders the garden unsuitable.
Tuesday 24th August
Patronal Festival at St Bart's Chapel
11 am - The St Bart's Patronal Festival Service, followed by
Traditional Bun Run - Free Event
12 noon - St. Barts
Wine Tasting - Free Event
Start at 6pm - Wine Tasting at Hercules Wine Warehouse, Moat Sole, Sandwich
An event not to be missed with an opportunity to sample, and perhaps purchase, a selection of fine wines
Simultaneous Chess Tournament with Grand Master John Emms
Starts at 7pm - the Guildhall Jury Room
Come and see Grand Master John Emms competing in a simutaneous exhibition chess match!
Participants are advised to purchase tickets in advance from Sandwich TIC. Spectators may pay at the door
Tickets £5 Adults, £3 Children, £1 Spectators.

3pm at St. Clement’s Church - Notes to My Daughter – A Father’s Diary. Alexander Pierce edited by Christine Cuss. Book sales proceeds to the Royal British Legion. FREE EVENT
Festival Film Night at the Empire Cinema - The Italian Job
7.30pm - Tickets £7.50 from Sandwich Tourist Information Centre, The Guildhall, Sandwich.

Thursday 26th August
Ash Heritage Group Walk
2.30pm Meet at car park opposite the Chequers Inn, Ash.
with local historian Peter Ewart—‘See History before your eyes’ Saxon burial ground, reminders of East Kent light railway, local churchyard. Easy walk for 2 hours around lanes and meadow, be sure to wear adequate footwear.

Festival Concert - Becker Symphony Orchestra
Starts at 8pm at St Mary's Church

9.30am to 12.30pm. at the Guildhall Meeting Room and Age Concern Forecourt. Hosted by Churches Together in Sandwich.
Cancer Research Fundraising Day - Free Event
10am at Sandwich Leisure Centre.
Football Marathon, Sealed Bids Auction, Inflatable Speed Cage, Shoot Out Game, Raffle, Team Coaching (FA Qualified Coaches)
Stalls in St Peter's Garden - Free Event
10am - 4pm
Spend a little time browsing around the stalls and pick up a few bargains. You will find local crafts, cake stalls, bric-a-brac and lots more
Pitches : £25 for commercial stallholders, £20 for charity stalls
Advanced booking only (n.b. £10 discount offered for stallholders wishing to operate on Saturday 28th and Monday 30th August)
Italian Market on the Quay Green
9am to 5pm
Spend some time choosing from the extensive range of genuine Italian produce
Visit the White Mill Heritage Centre
10.30am to 5.30pm - last entry at 4.30pm
See the white smock windmill and many other exhibits, including a furnished miller’s cottage, cobbler’s workshop, blacksmith’s forge, old agricultual machinery and tools and much more.
Admission : Adult £2, Children 50p, Concessions £1 Family Ticket £5 (2 Adults and up to 4 Children)
Circus Skills Workshop - Free Event
11am - 2pm - The Quay Green
Kent Circus School - Come along and try your hand at Juggling, Plate-Spinning and other acrobatic feats in this informal open air workshop. Friendly advice on hand throughout. Suitable for all ages and abilities - under 7s must be accompanied by an adult. This event will be held in St Clement’s Church Hall if heavy rain renders The Quay Green unsuitable.

The Sandwich Local History Society will be leading walking tours of the ancient town and Cinque Port of Sandwich.

Back by popular demand - the Barn Dance with music by Smalltown Romance with caller Sue Hudson. This is a real family occasion so come along and join in the fun.

Duck Race
2 pm - Sandwich Quay
Charitable event hosted by the Rotary Club of Sandwich who will be selling Plastic Ducks throughout the Festival week.
The public can purchase Duck Race tickets at - D J Jutson Ltd; Wyman Electricals Ltd; The Secret Gardens of Sandwich - Tickets will also be sold outside the Co-Op Pioneer on weekends leading up to the Duck Race and on the Quay throughout the Bank Holiday weekend
Jazz Concert
Gates open at 2.30pm on Gazen Salts
Bring a picnic and a rug. Lie back on the grass and enjoy the music.
Entrance £4. Admission is free children under 12. Please note that barbecues are not permitted on Gazen Salts.

There will be an auction at 6pm on Saturday 28th August – open to all.
