ps Re the last post "bombs in Sandwich", my father still has a sideboard with glass embedded in the front panels from Woodnesborough. Apparently the house moved a bit!

Ian,Pat, Tried posting a reply but discovered I have to do a new message, too many done on Ian's first one. Just spent time doing it, now starting again.
Thought of two more , Pamela Garnham and Janet Pilcher, who came from
Woodnesborough.
Found some photos, one of us on a boat on the Thames. It's small but can pick out some people eg Graham Rogers in a cap. He always wore that I think. We didn't have a shool uniform did we?
Also there's one of the girls with Mr C, 20 of us. Another one of the girls on the Butts, about to play rounders or just finished. What did the boys do Ian, cricket?
There are 2 of Miss Hibbert's class but Pat and Ian your'e not in it. I suppose there must have been two classes then, perhaps depended on when your birthday was.Dennis is in it, others whose names I don't remember.I showed one of the photos to our grandson, he picked me out, scary! Don't go around with a bow in my hair now!
I hated sewing and knitting lessons, dish cloths, nothing but dish cloths, also do you remember the weaving looms, what did we make on those? Raffia mats as well, didn't some people do basket weaving?
I don't remember cycling to Richborough Castle. Even if we had to walk places we didn't mind, considering how far we used to wander when we were out playing.
What about the house teams we had, Romans, Normans, Vikings and Saxons. I was in Saxons, we were rubbish, Romans and Normans used to win everything, am I right?
Have remembered some more infant teachers names, no time now to carry on ,will save them for another time.
Regards Maggie

If there's any reader who remembers me, I "found" another old friend and classmate from the late 50s. Inseparable as 2 twins, Dennis (the Menace) Coleman and I spent most of our time together before leaving Sandwich in 1959/60. Dennis joined the Army and I joined the RAF. Last saw him about 63/64 time. Tracked him down to Gozo and last November we reunited for the first time for over 40 years. You can imagine the stories and tales. Over one particularly excellent bottle of wine we tried to remember the names of our school chums from |Mr Chesterfield's "top Class" of the junior school which we all left in the summer of 55. Of course, this was the old SPS near St Mary's Church.
As well as Dennis and I, we thought of Godfrey Laslett, Freddy Saunders, Brian Cornwall, Graham Rogers, Tony Horner, Brian Latham, Keith Rudd, David Knowlton, Derek Smith,Peter Hurst, John May, John Collins, Ted Castle, Ewart Clapson ~ and for the girls: Margaret Miller, Margaret King, Jane Solly, Christine Blake, Jennifer Moss, Janet Barham, Madeline Hayward, Sandra Reason, Maregaret Allen and Christine Kerridge.....and then we just about ran out of ideas. There were 2 classes of us (Mr Chesterfield and Miss Wells were the teachers)so get your thinking caps on; there must be loads more. Who else was there leaving SPS in the Summer of 55? Teacher-wise we thought of Mr Chesterfield, Miss Wells, Mrs Room, Mrs Stringer, Mr Pettitt, Mr Miles and Mr Ford~ any others? And of course Mr Sage was the Headmaster, and Madeline's mother (Mrs Hayward) was the School Secretary. Another name we remembered was Mr Reason (Sandra's dad)was the school Caretaker.
Love the site and still love the town but don't get chance to visit often now. But would love to get more names for this leavers list.
Best wishes to all Old Sandwichians wherever you are throughout the world.
Ian
